One of the most spectacular mural in Berlin is Yellow Man made by Brazilian twins Os Gemeos. The brothers’ imagination creates huge yellow-skinned characters that actually populate their dreams. The twins take inspiration from family portraits and the political and social situation in Sao Paulo, where they were born. The brightness of the colours typical of South America creates a portal to their universe made by the joy and jocosity of Brazilian folklore. The features of their characters reveal traces of the exotic places and illusionary destinations that belong to their fantasy. In their murals Os Gemeos often play with the contrast between the smooth surfaces and the pattern of the clothes. Their figures have strange proportions that communicates alienation or oppression. This disparity between the feeling that their artworks communicate and the energy from the cheerful hues reflects the contradictions of South America.
